Our 1986 Bertone X1/9 is a classic sports car created by Italian companies Fiat and Bertone. First released in 1972 under the Fiat brand, the car was later produced solely by Bertone from 1982 to 1989.
Known for its sharp, angular look and targa top, the X1/9 has a distinct style that reflects the trends of the 1970s and 1980s. Its mid-engine layout, common in high-performance cars, provided excellent balance and handling. This 1986 model features a 1.5-litre inline-four engine and a five-speed manual gearbox.
Bertone’s focus on detail is clear in the car’s build quality and finish. The interior, though small, was designed for driver comfort. Its lightweight design contributed to its agility and quick response on the road.
Our 1986 X1/9 was formally part of the Robert Furniss Riding collection and has been very well looked after. After Robert sadly passed away, he left his car collection to be sold at auction, with all proceeds going to the RNLI. The entire collection made over £1.4 million!
It comes with an extensive history file and has recently undergone some paint repairs, gearbox work, and other minor repairs since being in the Bridge Classic Cars workshop.
