Description

In 1968, Jaguar introduced its new sleek and elegant saloon to the world. The XJ6 Series 1 would be the replacement for the previous generation of 4-door saloons and would see its production last nearly 30 years. The Series 1’s were fitted with the legendary XK engines anywhere from a 2.8-litre all the way to the 4.2-litre straight-six that topped the range.
The XJ6 Series 1 carried on with the moniker of ‘grace, space, pace’ that had preceded it with the previous generation cars. The wonderful interior, the beautiful engine and the sweeping styling meant the Series 1 would be cemented as one of the greatest Jaguars.

And now, Bridge Classic Cars wants you to experience all of this with our 1970 Jaguar XJ6 Series 1.

This particular car has been methodically cared for by its previous owner, who has had various works done by local specialists including Bridge Classic Cars. The car was imported from Belgium in 2020 by its previous owner who set up having the whole car gone through top to bottom and remedial works carried out. Included in its extensive history folder are invoices dating back to August of 1972 from Sevenways Garage Ltd in Manchester who would go on to look after the car for the next 5 years.

The car is fitted with the larger 4.2-litre straight-six and automatic gearbox that has been fastidiously serviced in their ownership as well as some minor running issues investigated and rectified with numerous invoices and job-sheets to support any work carried out. The car has recently had a full stainless-steel exhaust, new fuel tanks, a new 123 ignition system, a new battery as well as extensive carburettor rebuild and tuning. Aesthetically the XJ6 Series 1 is in good condition with only minor work needed to its glorious pale blue paintwork to make the car truly exceptional, or leave it alone to keep its character. Inside, the dark grey leather interior is in superb condition along with its wooden trims.
