Here at Bridge Classic Cars, we are delighted to give you the chance of winning our very special 1970 MG C!
One of the most sought-after and rare models from the MG family, there are significantly fewer MG C’s than even the MG B V8.
When production of the ‘C’ came to an end in 1969, well-known MG dealer, University Motors bought up the remaining MG C’s from the factory in Abington and took them to Hanwell in London between September and December of 1969. All of University Motors MG C’s were fitted with the Downton 3-litre straight-six.
From there, the stories of the University Motors MG C’s get interesting. Some of the rumoured 170 cars were transformed into what were called ‘Specials’. A host of modifications were carried out, some subtle and some not so much. From different wheels, to engine work and extreme bodywork, the Specials are the most coveted of the MG C’s but there isn’t an official record of which cars were given the ‘special’ treatment.
What is known about our particular 1970 MG C Roadster is that it began its life at University Motors Ltd in London. Delivered to the London dealership in November of 1969, it remains in its original colour combination of Mineral Blue over a black interior with matching black roof.
The car lived its early life in London before coming to East Anglia in the late 1990s. This classic was restored in the early 1990s to a very high standard (documented with photos) which it remains in to this day. The extensive history file date back all the way to 1977 with work carried out by RW Services of London who would look after the MG C Roadster for the next 7 years. Most recent work dates to 2018 of replacement of the rear suspension units and a full oil service with the mileage currently reading as 54,246.
