Bridge Classic Cars Competitions wants you to find your Levi jeans, your Ellesse sweatshirts and dig out the classic Reebok wedges from the loft and get behind the wheel of this, our 1991 Ford Escort RS Turbo Series 2.
Finished in A9 black, which according to the history file was refreshed in 2018, with the iconic grey Recaro sports seats complimenting its grey cloth interior, our Escort RS Turbo looks just as good, and as menacing, as it first did 32 years ago.
The 1.6-litre, turbocharged 4-cylinder is an absolute powerhouse. With a few upgrades, the history file contains a dyno print off from Noble Motorsport which, in 2005, shows the car making a claimed 180BHP and around 180lb/ft of torque. All the right numbers for a truly Fast Ford!
This jump in power was thanks to a series of upgrades carried out in the early/mid 2000s with a larger Turbocharger (supplied by Turboshop Ltd), a swathe of supporting modifications such as an uprated intercooler and radiator, Scorpion exhaust, K&N Intake, alongside a full stainless-steel engine bay dress kit from AS Auto Specialists, a set of blue Lockwood guages as well as an upgraded sound system in period to really turn heads.
In recent years, along with the refinish of the A9 Black paintwork, the car has had a full brake rebuild, interior trim work, suspension bushes, springs and shock absorbers replaced/upgraded and frequent servicing. All paperwork is included in the vehicles history file which dates back to the early 2000s, but does contain a handwritten invoice for when the car was bought by a previous owner in 2001.
