The MGB was one of the most successful and long-lived products for MG. In 1988, following on from the successful launch of brand-new MGB bodies the company decided to take the bold leap and reimagine this iconic British sports car for the soon to be fun and cool 1990s – and now, this is your chance to get your hands on one of these underrated and lesser known British V8 sports cars.
Taking the spirit of the fabled MGB and updating it with a then modern powertrain and contemporary styling, MG launched this new take on a well-loved classic. The MG RV8.
The car would keep at its core that timeless Pininfarina styling but accentuated its proportions to accommodate its modern running gear. With the legendary MGB GT V8 in mind, the engineering team took a modern 3.9-litre V8 and 5-speed gearbox to give their ‘new’ sports car that old-school bruiser feel, and would set the scene for MG’s sports car revival of the 1990s and 2000s with cars like the X-Power SV and the hugely popular MGF.
This car is a 1996 MG RV8. One of the last cars of the very limited production run, our RV8 proudly wears its classic combination of Flame Red bodywork over a thick tan leather interior and complimenting black roof.
The car began its life in Japan, a significant market for the MG RV8, and returned to the UK in 2010 where it was converted to an MPH speedometer and only displays around 13,000 miles in that time.
Whether an enthusiast of the marque, a lover of V8 sports cars or someone with a keen eye on an underrated collector classic this is your chance to win a piece of British sports car history.
